Google Drive Connector for Confluence Cloud is a free plugin for Confluence Cloud that allows embedding of common file types from Google Drive in Confluence Cloud pages.

The connector macro provides a picker to your Google Drive to easily pick which file(s) to embed. Authentication is entirely client-side, so permissions are always correctly applied.

Supported file types are:

  • Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
  • Images and PDFs
  • Audio and Video
  • Google Forms, including the ability to submit them
  • draw.io diagrams

To insert a file, whilst a page is being edited, insert a {gdriveconnector} macro. See the Atlassian documentation for inserting and editing macros.

Once inserted you will see a macro box that says "Google Drive Connector". Click the macro and press "edit". This will bring you to the macro editor:

Click the blue "..." to the right of the File Name field to bring up the Drive picker. If you haven't authenticated to Google Drive on your client, you will be prompted to do so first. When the picker appears it will show two views of your Google Drive:

Either by files or folders. The easiest route is usually to search for the file by name.

Once you find the file, click on it and press the "Select" button. This will load a preview of the file. If it looks correct press the "Insert" button bottom right on the dialog to insert the Drive file preview into your Confluence page. Saving the Confluence page with the new Drive macro completes the operation.

Note that you can use the pull-down in the search field to filter by file type.

Forms aren't offered as a filter type. To view those enter "type:form" in the search field.
